“Amid a series of alarming poll numbers for Joe Biden and Democrats in New York, and just days after a left-leaning think tank issued a damning report on how the state’s explosive cost of living is driving young families out, Kathy Hochul’s announcement indefinitely suspending the June 30th implementation of congestion pricing is an embarrassing course correction that many see as a desperate attempt to save her party’s standing ahead of the November election.
As Young Republicans from a state with the highest tax burden in the nation, we have long argued that congestion pricing would be just another tax on the young working- and middle-class families who call this place home. Whether she realizes it or not, Hochul’s reversal only validates every criticism we’ve ever had about this nationally condemned, first- and hopefully last-of-its-kind tolling program.
Today, we join millions of real New Yorkers in celebrating this massive victory against what some once claimed to be a defining achievement for the radical left.”
