“At a time when working families across New York are already struggling to make ends meet, Governor Kathy Hochul and New York Democrats just reminded us why they cannot be trusted to remain in power.
Make no mistake: The ramifications of last night’s 2-1 decision by the Farm Laborers Wage Board to recommend lowering the overtime threshold for farm workers will be felt across New York.
If approved, this measure will have a detrimental impact on the more than 35,000 farms located throughout New York, approximately 98% of which are family-owned, forcing them to either increase prices and make ordinary New Yorkers like me and you shoulder the additional cost, or close up entirely. This will, without a doubt, kill New York’s agriculture industry, which remains to be one of the only functioning economic sectors left in the state post-pandemic.
Once again, one party rule has placed a shortsighted and ill-conceived political agenda ahead of the interests of New Yorkers — and that’s why, on November 8th, we are going to reject one-party rule to Save Our State!”
