Today, the Association of New York State Young Republican Clubs (NYSYR) released its endorsements ahead of the hotly contested Special Election in New York’s 19th Congressional District and Republican Primary Election in State Senate District 51, both to be held on Tuesday, August 23rd. Additionally, the NYSYR announced a statewide deployment — its first of the cycle — targeting these districts which will coincide with the start of early voting on Saturday, August 13th.
The NYSYR represents more than 50 community- and campus-based chapters comprising more than 2,000 registered members statewide. We are a diverse coalition of professional operatives, public servants, elected officials, business leaders, young professionals, and students working to recruit, train, and elect a new generation of Republicans across New York.
In the NY-19 Special Election, the NYSYR has endorsed Marc Molinaro:
“The New York State Young Republicans is proud to endorse Marc Molinaro in the special election for New York’s 19th Congressional District,” said NYSYR Chairman Peter Giunta. “Marc’s career in public service began as a Young Republican, at the age of 18, when he was elected America’s yougest mayor in Tivoli, NY. He’s long been a supporter of our cause, and he has proven himself to be a fierce advocate — as Mayor, as Assemblyman, and, most recently, as Dutchess County Executive — of policies that promote social and economic prosperity for the millions of young Americans who call New York home.”
Chairman Giunta continued: “With House Republicans just three seats away from taking back the majority, NY-19 is one of the most watched races in America. We cannot afford more of the radical left’s dangerous agenda, which aims to restrict our rights and double down on hateful rhetoric that seeks to divide us. In this fight for the soul of our nation, we cannot settle for anything short of total victory.”
“Make no mistake, the significance of this race is not lost on those in power in D.C. and across the nation, and they know that the outcome of this race will be an early indicator of what happens in the midterms in November,” said Marc Molinaro, the Republican candidate for NY-19. “It is imperative that we win this special election on August 23rd, and therefore send a message to the Biden administration that enough is enough. Upstate New Yorkers and all the supporters of our campaign, including the invaluable New York State Young Republicans are tired of runaway inflation, perpetually rising crime, and a government that doesn’t seem to care about those it’s supposed to serve.
Molinaro continued: “Thank you to the New York State Young Republicans and Chairman Peter Giunta for your support, all you’ve done for this campaign, and Republicans across New York State.”
In the SD-51 Republican Primary Election, the NYSYR has endorsed Senator Peter Oberacker for re-election:
“The New York State Young Republicans is proud to endorse Senator Peter Oberacker for re-election to the State Senate as he seeks a second term,” said NYSYR Chairman Peter Giunta. “Over the past two years, Senator Oberacker has shown himself to be a tried and true Conservative who has fought passionately against the dangerous agenda of the Albany’s radical left. More importantly, he is a family man and small business owner who understands exactly what everyday New Yorkers are up against — from crime and quality of life, to inflation and energy prices. Now more than ever, we need pragmatic leaders like Senator Oberacker fighting for us in Albany.”
“Make no mistake, we are in the midst of a once-in-a-generation battle to determine the future of our state,” said State Senator Peter Oberacker (R,C-Schenevus). “I am honored to have earned the backing of the New York State Young Republicans because they understand exactly what’s at stake with this election — they understand that this is a fight for their future.”
The NYSYR also announced its first statewide deployment of the cycle, targeting both of the aforementioned districts, for Saturday, August 13th, in Liberty, NY. Young Republicans from around the state will gather at the Liberty Diner (located at 30 Sullivan Avenue, Liberty, NY 12754) for a GOTV rally featuring Marc Molinaro and State Senator Peter Oberacker, as well as several other Republican candidates and officials.
