At the 2022 Young Republican Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., the Association of New York State Young Republican Clubs (NYSYR) was recognized by the Young Republican National Federation (YRNF) for its efforts to produce professional and informative social media content with the highly coveted “Outstanding State Federation Social Media” awardNYSYR Chairman Peter Giunta, who led a delegation of more than one dozen Young Republicans from New York, accepted the award at the YRNF’s National Awards Dinner, which featured a keynote speech from House Republican Leader and Past YRNF Chair Congressman Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

Among the criteria considered by the YRNF for this award, a state federation’s social media must promote issue awareness from a Republican perspective and also support the national goals of the YRNF, which are to recruit, train, and elect a new generation of Republican leaders across the nation.  The creative use of photos, videos, and other media forms by the state federation is also considered.

The NYSYR maintains an active presence on mainstream social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn, and there are plans to launch accounts on budding social media platforms, such as GETTR and Truth Social, which are becoming increasingly popular with conservative youth.  These efforts have been bolstered using traditional methods of digital engagement, such as email, as well as a complete overhaul of our website accompanied by a branding refresh.  Using the power of digital media, NYSYR has developed grassroots programming that, during the 2021 cycle, successfully raised thousands of dollars and organized five strongly attended regional deployments to benefit more than one dozen Young Republicans running for office.

“On behalf of our entire Association, I am honored that we have been recognized for our efforts to harness the power of social media in a way that effectively drives our message, grows our party, and supports Republican candidates who share our values,” said NYSYR Chairman Peter Giunta.  “It makes me incredibly proud to know that, out of more than 50 federations representing Young Republicans across the United States and its territories, we are setting the national standard for how Young Republicans should engage with their constituency in the digital age.  Thank you to YRNF Chairman Rick Loughery for bestowing this honor upon us, and thank you to our entire leadership team for their efforts each day to make NYSYR a political force to be reckoned with.”

“New York Young Republicans are a formidable force to contend with, not only for our ability to hit the pavement and get out the vote, but also to effectively blast the good word and policies of the Grand Old Party out to the World Wide Web as well,” said NYSYR Vice Chair Bobby Walker.  “Our unique and robust communications strategy nets us more attention and brings in more recruits, which means more doors knocked, more phones called, and more Republicans elected from Buffalo to Montauk and everywhere in between.”
