“Kathy Hochul promised a ‘new era of transparency’ and a ‘dramatic change in culture’ following the disgraced resignation of her former boss, Andrew Cuomo, last summer — but, just nine months later, it has become painfully clear that nothing has actually changed following this morning’s arrest of Hochul’s handpicked Lieutenant Governor, Brian Benjamin, on federal charges that he conspired to commit bribery.
This comes just days after Hochul doubled down on her support of Benjamin, while also claiming that she had no knowledge of the ongoing federal investigation into his failed campaign for New York City Comptroller. It’s unclear whether Hochul is ignorant or just incompetent, because she similarly claimed having no knowledge about the web of corruption spun by her predecessor.
What’s clear is that corruption in Albany has become endemic under Democrat one-party rule. To restore trust in the Executive Chamber, Brian Benjamin must resign immediately. New York can take care of the rest this November.”
