At the Biennial Convention of the New York State Young Republicans this past weekend, Peter Giunta of Richmond County was unanimously elected to serve as the state association’s 47th Chair. Giunta’s election marks only the second time in the 89-year history of the New York State Young Republicans that someone from Richmond County has led the state association, the last time being from 2001 – 2003.
Giunta is Chief of Staff to New York State Assemblymember Michael Reilly and President of the Staten Island (Richmond County) Young Republican Club. He previously served as Deputy Campaign Manager to New York’s 2018 Republican nominee for Governor, Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro, and as Deputy Chief of Staff and Budget Director to New York City Councilmember Joseph Borelli.
Giunta was raised and still resides in the Great Kills section of Staten Island. In 2019, he was recognized as one of City & State Magazine’s “40 Under 40” Rising Stars, and in 2018, he was given the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation’s “Public Service Award.”
“I am honored to have been unanimously elected by my peers and entrusted with this extraordinary responsibility to lead the New York State Young Republicans during what I truly believe to be such a pivotal time for our generation,” said Giunta. “We are engaged in a culture war that threatens the very fabric of our American way of life. No longer is just one election ‘the most important election of our lifetime,’ but instead, every election is the most important because of what we stand to lose. From today forward, the New York State Young Republicans will be steadfast in their mission to recruit, train, and empower the next generation of Republican organizers, leaders, and elected officials. The future is in our hands.”
“There is no one better suited to lead the New York State Young Republicans than Peter Giunta,” said New York Republican Chairman Nick Langworthy. “We are at a pivotal moment in history and I know Peter will do a phenomenal job marshaling the energy and resources of our Young Republicans as we head into our battle to save New York and America.”
